... your yoga nidra email reminded me of the therapeutic benefits of your classes and it’s similarities to our approach here [India] towards yoga. Your classes do stand out compared to the many studios in Portland. I am glad you pursue it in this fashion and hope to take more classes upon my return. ~ Naveen.

Peace in Mind and Movement

My private sessions, classes, and workshops share a common goal: to identify and then lessen the tension, gripping and bracing that create unhealthy movement habits that contribute to diminished stamina, injuries, and physical and mental pain/suffering.  Addressing these issues opens the pathway to harmony within our whole being.   ~ Maureen Maclise

What is Therapeutic Yoga?

Using novel movements we discover unhealthy patterns/habits in our bodies, our perceptions, and our approach to moving. Then, using classical yoga practices we gently and progressively challenge ourselves. We help all of our systems remember the power and strength found within ease.  As functional movement improves, we are better able to receive the intended benefits of our asana practice ~ Increased ease, mobility, stability, and strength at all levels of our being.

The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships.    ~ T.K.V. Desikachar
